On the evening of October 13, 2019, villagers of the small town of Laguarres, Spain, gathered to honor the Virgin Mary and each other by sharing home-made deserts, breads and other treats.
As Artist-in-Residence at Villa Bergerie, I gifted Laguarres residents with portraits of themselves, made and delivered on the spot, as a way of participating in this generous festival.
Villa Bergerie is an intensive 6-week residency program for mid-career artists from around the world, founded by internationally-renowned artist Jonathan Hammer.
